Problems of the peri-urban agrarian landscape

Research is aimed at reading the past and current characters of the agrarian landscape, the transformation trends, the citizens’ needs of using the agricultural areas and the farmers’ need of carrying on their activity while offering citizens the opportunity to use those areas. These aspects are dealt with an eye to the transformations taking place in the agrarian landscape (particularly, at the borders of big urban concentrations or where strong urban pressure is observed).

Tasks include direct surveys, historiographic research and investigation on the population in order to define if the conditions exist for drawing up projects aimed at enhancing a particular landscape: assessing both the quality of agricultural landscapes and of  the traditional agricultural artefacts, identifying enhancement opportunities, defining territorial management tools for implementing protection and enhancement policies.
